In the event of cardiac arrest, this critical life-saving tool can lead to a significant increase in survival rate and a reduction in the long-term risk of neurological damage or other organ failure. We hope it is never needed but it does offer reassurance, not only to our staff and clients, but also to visitors and neighbouring businesses.
We are proud to play our part in creating a safer environment for everyone who walks through our door.
There are over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests each year in the UK, but fewer than one in ten people survive: a shocking statistic from the British Heart Foundation. Every minute without CPR and defibrillation after a cardiac arrest can reduce the chance of survival by up to 10 per cent.
A defibrillator gives a jolt of energy to the heart to help get the heart beating again. Anyone can use it as no training is required and it gives clear, step-by-step voice instructions. After checking the person’s heart rhythm it will tell you whether it’s necessary to give them a shock. You can’t shock yourself or someone else accidentally.
Having a defibrillator installed at our office means that we can further protect our staff and all our clients and visitors. It also means that, should a heart-related incident occur near our building while we’re around, then we’re better placed to provide help.
It’s just another way we hope to provide peace of mind to everyone in the Rouse family.
