Community update

Monday 18th May 2026

We’ll be announcing the next initiative we’re supporting through our third donation of £10K to MNDA IOW Branch in June. In the meantime, we’d like to bring to your attention the wonderful work of WightAID.

In the first round of grant giving of 2026, Island communities across all age groups are benefiting from funding distributed by the WightAID Foundation. More than £13,500 has been awarded to six local organisations supporting families, children, older residents and community wellbeing, alongside smaller grants supporting community projects. The range of organisations benefiting from this support demonstrates the breadth of positive impact that collective, local, charitable giving can achieve. Rouse Limited is proud to continue supporting WightAID and the invaluable work it delivers within our community.

Founded in 2016, WightAID is dedicated to supporting only local Isle of Wight charities. Its unique model ensures that every pound raised on the Island stays on the Island, directly supporting local causes, groups, and community projects. Since its inception it has distributed over £800,000 to more than 280 small Island-based charities, helping to deliver meaningful and lasting impact across the community.

Local charities apply directly to WightAID and funds are allocated quickly, responsibly and effectively to where they are needed most. This ensures that legacy gifts and donor contributions are used with transparency, good governance, and maximum benefit. WightAID’s administration work is given voluntarily meaning 100% of all money raised goes back into the community.

By supporting WightAID, businesses and individuals can help deliver a significant boost to community projects via a trusted, flexible, and impactful way to make a difference. Donations don’t just go to one cause; it’s distributed to where it’s needed most, ensuring a wide-reaching and lasting impact across the Island. This support helps strengthen communities, enhances local reputations, and creates lasting social value.

Charitable giving is not only good for the community though – it can also be tax efficient. For example, donations made by limited companies before the financial year end are generally deductible against taxable profits, potentially reducing Corporation Tax liabilities. Sole traders and partnerships may also benefit through Gift Aid and higher rate tax reliefs where applicable.
